The Real Hope of the World

As you know, here at Patriot’s Hope, we are normally busy pointing out things we can learn from the Declaration of Independence, the Constitution of the United States, and ways to hold our officials accountable.  Today, however, we turn our attention to a far more important topic.

Today we celebrate a remarkable gift given to all mankind by Almighty God Himself.  In Colossians 1:15, we learn Jesus is, “the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature.”  We celebrate His coming to the earth today – but His birth on earth was not His beginning.  Since the beginning, Jesus had been with His Father.  His birth in the manger was God appearing in a visible, tangible form for all mankind to see and hear and read about and interact with.  Verse 16 of that passage in Colossians 1 tells us “all things were created by Him and for Him.”  He is the firstborn of every creature.  He created all things.  It goes on to say in verse 18, “that in all things He might have the preeminence.” I recommend Colossians 1 if you want to know more about the amazing baby in the manger!

The Hope of the World

May we never forget that Jesus is King of Kings, and Lord of Lords.  Just because we find him in a meager manger at a point in history at his earthly birth, may we never think lightly of Him.  He is the Creator of all and holds preeminence in everything.  He went on from the manger to live a perfect and sinless life, and ultimately to go to a death He did not deserve.  He submitted Himself to death on the cross in order to pay the price for my wretched sins.  It was a death I deserved, but instead of allowing me to face punishment, He stood up and became my substitute in the punishment of sin.  You, too, can benefit from His substitutionary death and forgiveness of your sin.

As we go through the year hosting Constitution classes, writing articles and other resources, may we never forget that the REAL hope for “We the People” is not in the words of the parchment of our founding documents.  The real hope for all of us is in the Savior of the World, Jesus Christ.  We celebrate Him at Christmas, but He is our only hope all year, and for all of life.  May we all turn to Him individually for salvation, and may our nation repent from our wicked ways and turn back to Him nationally.

Thank you all for being part of Patriot’s Hope this year and we wish each of you a very Merry Christmas!

Thank you,

Team Southerland
