Inside: May the true leader of this nation not be a President of flesh and blood but rather be the Lord Jesus Christ Himself. “For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.” Isaiah 33:22
I wasn’t planning to write an article today. However, I had to sit down and share some thoughts about the Presidential Inauguration RaShell and I just watched with our children. In light of all we have seen over the last four years, I feel there is no other way to say it, than that today, an evil regime has been replaced in this country. More than once during today’s speech, my eyes filled with tears of joy as I loved what I was hearing! It is definitely a time to celebrate! It is also a time to ensure the future of this country rests on the proper foundation.
Regardless of how you feel about President Trump, I think everyone must admit that the will of the American people was done today. The people spoke – the people took back the power in the nation. As we discussed in our article this past Thanksgiving, God gave us an opportunity. He gave us an opportunity to stop our path to destruction, to make changes, to turn in a different direction, to repent…
In the President’s speech, he set several things straight. I’m not sure I can even remember them all, but I was definitely cheering!
Yes, I am happy – but I am also concerned
I was recently reading a book by Michael Quinn Sullivan called Reflections on Life & Liberty. It is a compilation of excellent articles that time and again call Americans to take back the reigns of our government. He tells us over and over to hold our officials accountable. He writes to encourage us to do many of the same things I encourage us to do in my articles – but he often says them much better, and more concise than I could have said it. I highly recommend his book and also his newspaper, The Texas Scorecard, where he keeps a very close watch on the players in Texas politics. Repeatedly, he points his readers to truth, and reveals the deception being carried out, often by Republican officials who were elected by their conservative constituents. On pages 95-97 of the book, he has an article called “What We Trust In – Too many people cast their hopes and fears on the personalities of politicians”. It is an excellent article. In it, he quotes Psalm 146:3-7:
Put not your trust in princes, nor in the son of man, in whom there is no help. His breath goeth forth, he returneth to his earth; in that very day his thoughts perish. Happy is he that hath the God of Jacob for his help, whose hope is in the LORD his God: Which made heaven, and earth, the sea, and all that therein is: which keepeth truth for ever: Which executeth judgment for the oppressed: which giveth food to the hungry. The LORD looseth the prisoners:
-Psalms 146:3-7, KJV
The warning of this Psalm is particularly salient today. Donald Trump is our new President – and I thank the Lord that is true! I can’t imagine how today would feel if it was Kamala Harris taking that position today. Yes, President Trump is in office – he is the President! But he is not the one in whom we should place our trust.
God defines right and wrong
It appears that right and wrong will be carried out FAR more faithfully by President Trump than they ever were by Biden, and for that I rejoice greatly! But it is also important to remember right and wrong are defined by God Himself – not by Trump or any other human. Today is a day of hope, but may our hope not be wrongfully placed in princes (or Presidents). May our hope be properly placed in the God of Jacob which made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that therein is, which keepeth truth forever! May the laws of our land be good and right and not because they are signed by Trump, but because they are based upon the righteous laws of the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords.
James Wilson was a signer of both the Declaration of Independence, as well as the Constitution of the United States, and he was also an original Supreme Court Justice. As I quoted in our article, What is the Standard Measurement, James Wilson said, “Human law must rest its authority ultimately upon that law which is divine.” Right is right because God says it is… Wrong is wrong because God says it is… He is the authority. He and HIS WORD are the proper foundation. May we reform the foundation of this country and our laws so that they rest – not upon President Trump – but upon the God of Heaven and Earth Himself, the Lord Jesus Christ.
My Inauguaration Day Prayer
Dear Lord, thank you, thank you, thank you, so much, for giving us this opportunity. Thank you for pausing our downward free-fall to our own destruction that we were on. Thank you that today we celebrate the return of Donald Trump to the White House, and that we are not looking at four more years of lawlessness and debauchery that would have doubtless been the products of a Kamala Harris Presidency. Thank you, Lord, for your mercy on us in giving us this remarkable opportunity to change, to turn from our wicked ways, to cry out to you in repentance. May we always recognize You as the source of true definitions of right and wrong. May we always recognize You as the proper and right foundation of this nation. May our laws always be founded and based upon those laws which are divine, as your servant James Wilson reminded us. May the true leader of this nation not be a President of flesh and blood, but rather be the Lord Jesus Christ Himself, whose flesh was broken, and His blood spilled for our behalf, making our eternal salvation possible. May He always be our rightful Judge, Lawgiver, and King. Amen!
“For the LORD is our judge, the LORD is our lawgiver, the LORD is our king; he will save us.”
-Isaiah 33:22
Thanks for the thoughts. God defines right and wrong and Christians should continue to pray (or start) for our leaders, including President Trump.
Amen! Yes Maam, we should definitely be praying for President Trump and all of our officials. May we turn from our ways and return to God. Thank you so much for your note!
Jason, I appreciate that your family watched the inauguration together. This was a monumental shift in our country’s well being, our world’s well being! I drove to Dallas to be with my son and his girlfriend’s family. It made me very proud to be part on this special day – a day that the American people won! God is our leader – Donald Trump is the human leader for such a time as this. I pray for our country and its people. May we bow our heads and work hard to stay engaged in helping to get us back on track. Blessing to all – thank you for taking time to pen a blog message on January 20th, 2025.
Amen – thank you for the note! Yes, Maam, the 20th of January was a day when the American people took back what was theirs. We pray for President Trump and his staff regularly. We pray for the Lord’s guidance for the administration, and we pray God will draw Donald Trump to Himself in salvation. I pray we as a nation will turn from our wicked ways and turn to God! Thank you again for your encouraging note.
