Wow!  May 31, 2022, seems like a long time ago!  That is when we posted an article called, Does Free Speech Still Exist in America?.  In that article, we looked at a legal situation involving the Mesaros family, and its potential implications for the right of free speech and the first amendment for all Americans.  Since that time, we have met the additional 4 defendants in their case, along with Robert and Joeylynn Mesaros, who had all been sued by members of the Biden/ Harris campaign under an 1871 law that restricted the Ku Klux Klan from conspiring to interfere with people trying to vote.  (I know – this is a ridiculous charge – but that’s what they did).

My summary of the facts of the case (and the subsequent trial) goes something like this:  the Mesaros family (and two of the other defendants) participated in a “Trump train” in the final days of the 2020 Presidential election.  On this particular day, the Trump train and the Biden/ Harris bus travelled the same piece of interstate and, as you can imagine, there was some interaction between them.  There was honking, waving of flags, even some yelling out the windows…  all kinds of things that happen when people are excited for their candidate.  Specific drivers came and went, but at least portions of the Trump train travelled together with the bus from San Antonio to Austin on I-35.  When the bus arrived in Austin, it proceeded to its next scheduled event. 

While not so much as a traffic citation was issued that day to any driver involved with the incident, the very well-funded officials of Biden’s campaign team (claiming emotional damage) hired a huge team of attorneys and proceeded to sue 6, seemingly random Trump supporters they “picked” from the crowd that day, including 2 defendants, Steve and Randi Ceh, who were at work at the time and did not even drive in that day’s event, but were painted as the “masterminds of the conspiracy”. 

This was a civil trial, not a criminal trial. These people sued the defendants for money to “compensate” for the emotional damage they had incurred.  They tried to pin the blame of ANYTHING that happened on the road that day on these six people.  Their goal was clear: harass the defendants, bankrupt them with legal fees, and therefore assure that no conservative voice would dare to speak up in America again.

 In the years – no kidding, seriously, nearly 4 years – between the Trump train event and the trial, the Biden team’s attorneys scoured cell phone data and social media pages of the defendants and their friends and families, downloading anything they could take out of context in their attempt to ruin the lives of these patriotic Americans.  They edited snippets and clips from here and there and used them to construct elaborate video presentations they later shared in court to try to make the defendants appear villainous.  They shared the defendants’ private information with groups of evil people, who sent death threats and invitations to their wicked friends to come rob defendants’ homes and rape their family members.  They intimidated and coerced other drivers into signing confessions and providing them with additional media they could further use to build their case against the defendants.  No American should ever be forced to endure the misery that was inflicted upon these defendants and their families.

Our family had opportunity to be present for about half of the trial, which was held in federal court in Austin, TX.  We saw first-hand the outlandish, politically-motivated, and well-funded attacks on all the defendants.  Expensive paid “experts” were brought in to attempt to paint a criminal picture of the defendants, while ignoring the same type of actions clearly committed by the bus driver and another Biden campaign official who was driving a rental car as a “follow” vehicle.  Of course, this person was not on the rental agreement for the “follow” car because he was too young to drive a rental car – but the court had no desire to look into anything amiss on the Biden team side. 

Over and over again, we witnessed the clear and obvious bias of the President Obama-appointed Federal Judge, Robert Pitman.  His claim to fame was for being the first openly homosexual man at certain levels of our federal legal system and apparently was NOT for any ability to be a fair and impartial judge.  He disallowed any of the personal attacks and threats received by the defendants to be used in court, and even restricted any use or explanation of the First Amendment of the United States Constitution, unless the definition came from him personally.  He wanted the Biden side to control the terms and language – and he clearly fought hard to preserve that.  Repeatedly, objections brought by the plaintiffs’ counsel were sustained, and the defendants’ counsel were overruled – over and over again until we grew weary seeing such obvious bias.  We later said we should have kept tally marks throughout on the objections, as that would have made for an interesting data point, but unfortunately, we did not do so early enough to make valid data.

We have all seen – especially in the last few years – the myriad wicked and desperate ways the left attempts to shut down the voice of truth and patriotism.  Let’s face it, if something is good, traditional, patriotic, or especially Christian, then it has been vilified in recent years.  All of that was on full display to the jury in this trial…  if it was anything that could be bought with unlimited funds, it was brought to the fight by the accusers, and allowed into the trial by Judge Pitman for presentation to the jury.     If it was something designed into our system of government to protect the rights of patriotic citizens (like the First Amendment), then it was as severely limited, restricted, or just plain outlawed, as Judge Pitman could make it.  As we consider history, it is not uncommon for God’s people to find themselves seemingly at the mercy of such people and such wicked establishments.  But, as we also see repeatedly in history, God is still on the throne above it all… 

Unfortunately, I was not there for the reading of the verdict, but I heard about the grimace on Judge Pitman’s face as he read it.  The jury found all of the defendants – except one – not liable for any of the charges.  Robert and Joeylynn Mesaros, as well as Steve and Randi Ceh, and one additional defendant, Mrs. Dolores Park, were all found not liable.  Praise the Lord for this first amendment victory!

THE fight’s not over, please help

There is one defendant I got to know during this trial, Mr. Eliazar Cisneros, whose fight is still ongoing.  He and I clicked immediately and I very much enjoyed the time I could spend with him while there.  I met him in this trial but already consider him a good friend.  He was fined under portions of the charges and continues to work with his attorney as to how best to go from here – which will likely look like an appeal to the 5th Circuit Federal Court.  Mr. Cisneros was involved in a very minor collision with the Biden campaign “follow” car while behind the bus.  Of course, the plaintiffs accuse him of trying to run the car off the road, but I will say that I saw no evidence to convince me of anything like that.  Mr. Cisneros is a proud Navy veteran who loves this country, our heritage, our Constitution, and stands up to fight for what is right – which is likely the reason the other side hates him.  If you would like to support the ongoing legal expenses for Mr. Cisneros, his Give Send Go page is:  https://www.givesendgo.com/GX1X
