This week I have multiple Bonus assignments for you. There is so much you can learn about Religious Freedom and I wanted to include multiple options for you to dig in a bit.
If you were paying attention in class, this one will be easy for you. Where is the phrase “separation of Church and State” originally found? What is the context? What is the meaning behind the original phrase “separation of Church and State”?
Bonus Assignment
Read Thomas Jefferson’s letter to the Danbury Baptists. If you need a copy, you can download a free pdf in our Historical Documents Library.
Bonus Assignment 2
What is the “Lemon Test”? When was the original decision handed down from the Supreme Court? When was it overturned? Why is this important? These two articles might help you understand. The End of the Lemon Test – Alliance Defending Freedom and SCOTUS Rules in Favor of Coach Kennedy – Liberty Counsel.
Bonus Assignment 3
Read Genesis chapters 1-8 and list all the God-given rights mentioned. This assignment will take a bit of time but you might find it interesting.
